Covid Update from Shropshire Council

COVID-19 Update

Vaccinations

“The COVID-19 vaccination programme is now underway and scaling up as we speak. But we must all keep doing our bit to stop the virus spreading while the vaccines team carry out this hugely important work. Further updates will follow in relation to vaccination centres. The vaccines give us some light at the end of the long tunnel but we still have some way to go.

There are currently 4 sites across Shropshire and Telford live as at 10th January. However, these will be followed a further nine to twelve sites across the County by the middle of February. The ambition is to have access to any site within less than 10 miles of people’s homes less than 45 minutes drive.

The roll out, began in December and has now seen over 12,000 people vaccinated in Shropshire and Telford vaccinated.

At this time the target is to vaccinate all the over 80s and key health and social workers by the middle of February along with those who are clinical vulnerable and over 70s . The aim is to vaccinate those in care homes first by the end of January.
