Wem Town Council

Shropshire, UK

Wem Chamber of Commerce

Wem FloristFounded in the mid 60's the Wem Chamber was originally a Chamber of Trade and it served the shopkeepers in the town. The focus changed over the years and it was renamed the Chamber of Commerce in the 80's to reflect the fact that it was by then representing the service and manufacturing sectors as well as the shopkeepers.

This broader and more inclusive organisation is now well placed to serve the needs of the wider business community in the Wem postal area; also through our affiliation with the Shropshire Chamber of commerce and Enterprise we support the promotion of training either in the workplace, or by means of numerous relevant courses.

The present Chamber's purpose is to:

  1. Give support to its members.
  2. Return something back to the community.
  3. Promote trade.
  4. Provide representation on and co-operate with the various public bodies set up in recent years to improve the well being of our society.

The town centre of Wem has improved greatly in recent years and with new funding coming on stream we expect to see this improvement continue.

The Chamber is particularly anxious to promote new enterprises that bring (new) skills and jobs to this area. We are blessed with an enviously attractive countryside, good communications, good neighbours and schooling which is getting excellent results.
