Paying by direct debit can save council thousands
Shropshire Council is urging more people to pay their council tax bills by direct debit because it saves money and helps protect services. A person using direct debit saves the council £30 compared to someone paying by cash, almost £20 compared to a weekly payment card and almost £5 compared to someone using a monthly payment card. The council can save thousands of pounds from encouraging more people to pay by direct debit. anyone interested in switching their payments to direct debit can call Shropshire Council's council tax helpline on 0345 678 9002 or visit one of the council's offices across the county.
